Speech and Language Session for Reception Classes

Particularly relevant for young people born during Covid times to develop speech and language, expression,
social skills and body awareness.

Fairies and Elves – Freddy and the Fairy / Elves & The Shoemaker
Magic Potions, Castles and Dragons – Room on the Broom / Zog / Princesses Break Free
Dinosaurs – Dinosaur Stomp, Dear Dinosaur
Space – Man on the Moon / Q Pootle
Space – Alien School

Linking drama sessions to these books and going on an adventure each week based on these themes with our magic flying carpet. We want to encourage role play, speech/language and confidence.

Grouping Example

Three groups:

Two groups of approximately 18
One smaller group of 10 – low confidence or speech and language needs – working on using big voices and stepping out of their comfort zone

Each group will do the same activity, with the smaller group working particularly on confidence and joining in.

Each group will have 25 minutes, with a five-minute crossover between each session.
